Plum blossoms have been loved in Japan since ancient times and are an early sign of spring.
The motifs are pine, bamboo, and plum, and are known as auspicious patterns.

The sixth generation Otomi created the plum blossom iron kettle about 50 years ago.
His name is Shinonome.

The name Shinonome is written in kanji as Shinonome.
It was imagined as a symbol of the coming of spring, clouds in the east where the sun rises, and dawn.

Otomi's Kamayaki Teapot
Although it is a teapot, it can also be used as an iron kettle to boil water.
It is made using the traditional technique of kiln firing.
Proof of this is that the inside is grey in colour, without being enamel glaze.

*Precautions when using a teapot
When using it as a teapot, just as when boiling water, be careful not to leave any water inside.
The color of the tea will darken due to a reaction between the tannins in the tea and the iron, but please rest assured that this is not harmful.
We have received feedback that the reaction between the iron and tea components mellows out bitter and other unpleasant flavors, making the tea smoother and more palatable.
