Nambu Ironware Iron Teapot Hisago 0.5L
<Specifications> No enamel finish, oxide coating finish by baking in a pot, movable handle, tea strainer included
This small iron kettle comes with a tea strainer, so it can also be used as a teapot. It is the size of a regular teapot, but can be used over an open flame.
Overturning the conventional wisdom that teapots do not provide iron, this is a great iron kettle that is not enameled and can also be used to supplement iron.
◎Origin of the design
The auspicious gourd design, devised by the sixth generation Otomi, has become popular as far away as France.
I counted the gourds and found there were six in total.
This is a play on the words "6 hyou (6 leopards)" and "mubyo (sickness and health)". It is a good omen that has been considered since ancient times in Japan.
◎Otomi's Kamayaki Iron Teapot
The grey color of the inside of the iron kettle is evidence of the traditional kiln firing process.
This is the finishing touch that is essential for replenishing iron, which is one of the original characteristics of iron kettles.
★Recommended usage
In recent years, drinking hot water boiled in an iron kettle has been drawing attention as it can be expected to have a detoxifying effect as well as provide iron. It is the perfect size for boiling a cup of hot water every morning.
- Color changes over time
Water is likely to accumulate around the lid and other areas that come into contact with steam, causing discoloration and rust.
If used over an open flame, the bottom will discolor and turn white.
If the gas flame covers the surface of the iron kettle, that part will easily discolor, so please keep the heat low.
Be careful not to apply too much pressure.
If you cook next to an iron kettle, oil splashes can cause oil stains.
Please be careful as this may cause discoloration.
*Caution when using
If you leave hot water and tea in the pot for too long, the color of the tea will darken due to a reaction between the tannins in the tea and the iron, but please rest assured that this is not harmful.
