This iron kettle was created about 10 years ago.
A workshop in Iwate Prefecture has produced a number of works as part of a project called Chugi.
One of them is this standing pattern of Otomi.
The flat shape was a design trend that was popular in Europe at the time.
It is considered to be a suitable material to express the texture, presence and stability that only iron can provide.
The capacity is also different from traditional demand in Japan, and is a global standard size.
Not too big, not too small.

The pattern is delicate, but does not create a sense of tension.
That is our goal as we create tools used in the world of tea.

The handles can be folded down for easy storage, and the flat base makes it suitable for use on induction cooktops.
It also has excellent reaction. However, when using it on an induction cooktop, please use it on low to medium heat.
This is recommended to prevent deformation caused by concentrated heat sources.

Since ancient times, iron kettles have been hung on a hook or placed over a brazier.
The water doesn't boil instantly, but slowly over a charcoal fire.
It's a tool with that kind of flavor.

- Color changes over time
