This is an ambitious piece of work that is the first in Nanbu ironware to feature engraving on the inside of the kettle.
The inside is baked in a pot, so it is possible to replenish iron.
It can be used both for boiling water and as a teapot.
◎Otomi's Kamayaki Iron Teapot
The grey color of the inside of the iron kettle is proof of the traditional kiln firing process. This is the original characteristic of iron kettles, and is an essential finish for replenishing iron.

If you leave the hot water and tea in the pot for too long, the tea will darken in color due to a reaction between the tannins in the tea and the iron, but please rest assured that this is not harmful.
