Zheng Shan Xiaozhong Flower Fragrance

We have launched Zhengshan Xiaozhong Huaxiang, a variety of citrus fruits grown in Tongmu Pass, Wuyishan City, Fujian Province, China.
Unlike the commonly known Zhengshan Xiaozhong tea which has a smoky aroma, this tea has a fruity and floral aroma.

Furthermore, this product is sourced from pesticide-free tea plantations.

Jeonghwa Soju has a sweet tropical fruit scent and no smoky smell.

Zhengshan Sozhong is well known among tea lovers as the world's oldest black tea.

Zhengshan Xiaozhong is traditionally dried over burning pine wood, which is why it typically smells similar to Seoromar.

On the other hand, there are also high-end versions of Zhengshan Xiaozhong tea that have fruity or floral aromas. These include HOJO's Zhengshan Xiaozhong Qi Zheng, Xiao Red Gan, Fei Zi Xiao, and the newly released Han Xiang.

Some consider these fruity and floral scented Zhengshan Xiaozhong to be a new style.

On the other hand, some people believe that it has actually existed for a long time, but the manufacturing method was lost during the Cultural Revolution.
While the exact details are unclear, some historical facts suggest that a fruity style has existed since ancient times.

For example, Earl Grey is a tea made to imitate the Zhengshan Souzhong tea from the 1800s. If the Zhengshan Souzhong tea of ​​the time had a smoky aroma, would Earl Grey have been different in its current form?

In addition, Keemun black tea, which was made in the 1800s by imitating Zhongshan Sozhong, does not have a smoky smell, which is another reason to believe that Zhongshan Sozhong, which has a fruit and floral scent, has existed since ancient times.

Black tea made from tea seeds grown at high altitudes

Like Zhengshan Xiaozhong Qishu, Zhengshan Xiaozhong Huaxiang is made from naturally grown tea seedlings from Tongmuguan.
Seedlings are tea plants grown from seeds. Compared to tea plants grown from cuttings, seedlings have a taproot, which means they have a higher mineral absorption capacity and produce tea with a stronger aftertaste.

The one on the right is a seedling, and the one on the left is a cutting (cultivar).

The tea plantation is located at an altitude of 1100-1300m, and the conditions are almost the same as those of the rare varieties sold by HOJO, but the tea leaves used are harvested from slightly younger tea plants.
The difference with the odd variety is that the fermentation time is a little shorter. However, like the odd variety, the finished black tea is roasted for a long time at low temperature over charcoal, so it matures and has a floral aroma like rose, but also fruity aromas like peach, mango, and longan, and even a subtle sweet potato aroma.

The aftertaste is a little lighter than that of the Kishu variety, but if you don't compare them, it's long enough and makes a recommended tea.
